Kerala Doctors UK is developing a secure online GP service that will allow patients to access medical consultations remotely via video or telephone.
All consultations will be delivered by GMC-registered doctors using secure clinical systems and in line with UK professional and regulatory standards.
Once the service is live, patients will be able to book appointments online.
During booking, patients may be asked to provide:
Basic personal details (name, date of birth, contact information)
Brief description of their medical concern
Relevant medical history (if available)
Current medications and allergies
This helps ensure the consultation is safe and appropriate.
Before or at the start of the consultation, we will verify patient identity to ensure safety and data accuracy.
This may include:
Confirmation of name and date of birth
Address verification where required
Additional identity checks for first-time patients
Patients will speak with a GMC-registered doctor via video or telephone.
During the consultation, the clinician will:
Take a detailed medical history
Assess symptoms and clinical risk
Review relevant background information
Make a clinical assessment and diagnosis where appropriate
Discuss treatment options and next steps
Consultations will be conducted in a professional, confidential, and patient-centred manner.
Following assessment, the clinician may:
Provide reassurance and advice
Recommend self-care or over-the-counter treatment
Prescribe medication where clinically appropriate
Request further tests or investigations
Refer to NHS services or specialists if required
Advise urgent or emergency care where necessary
All clinical decisions will be based on:
GMC Good Medical Practice
NICE clinical guidelines
Evidence-based medicine
Clinical judgement and patient safety considerations
Where appropriate, private electronic prescriptions may be issued.
Prescriptions will only be provided when:
It is clinically safe to do so remotely
The medication is appropriate for the condition
There are no contraindications or safety concerns
The clinician is satisfied with the diagnosis and assessment
Patients will be advised where to collect their medication from an appropriate pharmacy.
Where required, patients may be offered:
Follow-up consultations
Monitoring advice
Referral letters
Advice to seek NHS care or further assessment
Patients will always be informed if their condition requires escalation to another service.
Remote consultations are not suitable for all conditions.
If at any point the clinician identifies concerns such as:
Chest pain
Stroke symptoms
Severe shortness of breath
Serious infection
Mental health crisis
Any life-threatening condition
Patients will be directed immediately to:
NHS 111
Urgent care services
Emergency services (999 / A&E)
All consultations will be documented securely in a clinical record system.
Records will include:
Consultation notes
Clinical assessment and diagnosis
Prescriptions issued
Advice given
Referrals or follow-up plans
Records will be stored in compliance with UK GDPR and retained according to legal and professional requirements.
Patient safety is central to every consultation.
We are committed to ensuring that all clinical decisions are:
Safe
Evidence-based
Appropriately documented
In line with professional standards
